As a part of our “Tasting Room Experiences” series, Cass Vineyard and Winery wrote a guest blog about their tasting room café. If you have yet to experience the café, it is the perfect place to spend an afternoon wine tasting and enjoying the delicious “estate-grown” burgers, which of course pair well with their estate Cabernet Sauvignon!
110% Estate Grown – Cass Vineyard & Winery
At Cass Vineyard and Winery, 100% of our grapes are estate grown and one of the things we are most proud of (besides our wine) is our “estate-grown” Benny’s Burger!
Before adding this burger to our café menu, we would, like most wineries, judge the size of our business by the number of cases of wine we make each year.
Recently however, we have started to judge the size of our business by the number of estate grown grass fed cows raised each year to make the Benny’s Burger. As of right now, we consider ourselves a “three-cow” winery!
1/3 lb of estate-raised, grass fed beef is topped with house-cured bacon, Hook’s Paradise bleu cheese, horseradish aioli, pickled onions, and organic arugula, served on a local seeded brioche bun. Prepared medium.
We also have the option to add a duck egg (from an ‘estate-duck’) on top like the Aussies do. Both General Manager Bryan Cass and winemaker Sterling Kragten spent a good amount of time working and studying in Australia, and were more than happy to see this burger topping added to the menu.
This burger has laid claim to winning “Best Burger” at our local Burgers and Brews festival two years in a row. Pairs best with either our Cabernet Sauvignon, Rockin’ One Red GSM, or Backbone Syrah.
Our café is open daily from 11am-5pm. 7350 Linne, Rd., Paso Robles, CA, 93446. (805)239-1730.
